Banyan Mental Health is a facility that prioritizes the health, safety, and needs of our patients.

Our experience in treating mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and more have equipped us to create the best form of treatment plans for our patients. In addition, mental illness relapse is possible in those who fail to continue their treatment or are overwhelmed by other triggering factors. To help those who are in recovery from a mental disorder continue progressing no matter what, we’re offering telehealth mental health services at Banyan.

What is Telehealth Mental Health Care?

Telehealth services for mental health take place entirely online, usually through a video conferencing system on your personal device. Remote health care offers the same high-quality care you'd receive in-office but with added flexibility and convenience. With telehealth, you can:

  • Attend therapy sessions from home or any private space
  • Save time and money on travel
  • Access care even if you live far from a mental health center
  • Continue to work with your therapist during times when in-person visits are difficult

Banyan Mental Health offers telehealth visits to adults struggling with various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and obsessive compulsive disorder, and much more. We use secure, user-friendly platforms to ensure your privacy and comfort throughout your treatment journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

1Is Telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?
Telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health conditions. Studies show comparable outcomes for issues like depression and anxiety. However, some complex conditions may benefit from in-person care. Since treatment is individualized, we recommend talking to a counselor before deciding on virtual therapy.
2Are online therapy sessions confidential?
We value your privacy and do whatever we can to ensure that all therapy sessions, whether online or in-person, follow the strictest confidentiality measures. For online treatment, we use a HIPAA-compliant platform. To further ensure your privacy, our therapists conduct virtual sessions from private, confidential locations. We recommend using headphones and a private space when you have an online counseling session. We also advise against using public WiFi to connect during your sessions.
3What technology do I need for Telehealth sessions?
You'll need a device with internet access - it doesn't matter if it's a smartphone, tablet, or computer. You'll also need a web camera and microphone, so your therapist can see and hear you. To avoid disruptions during your session, we recommend a stable internet connection. A quiet, calm location is also a must.
4Can my provider prescribe medications over Telehealth?
Psychiatrists can prescribe medications during telehealth sessions when appropriate. However, some controlled substances may require in-person visits due to regulations. We'll guide you through the process based on your specific needs.
5Does insurance cover Telehealth mental health services?
Many insurance plans now cover telehealth services. Before you begin treatment at Banyan Mental Health, we can verify your insurance and let you know if it will cover your therapy. If not, we can work with you to make treatment fit your budget.

Telehealth Services for Mental Health

Banyan Mental Health’s virtual behavioral health program lets you continue your treatment plans at any place and any time. We provide telehealth services to patients who receive mental health treatment at our facilities. Along with mental health programs, we provide co-occurring disorder treatment to help patients suffering from both addiction and mental illness.

Our telehealth services include three hours of intensive treatment each day for three days a week. You will also schedule one hour of virtual individual therapy per week, which lets you work directly with a therapist and keeps you on track toward your goals.

To preserve the privacy of your treatment, you should be alone during your online therapy. Ideally, you'll be in a room with a door where no one else can see, hear, or take part in your sessions. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, you must let your therapist know in advance.

Individual Therapy

Our one-on-one online therapy sessions give you dedicated time with a skilled therapist. You'll work together to address your concerns, develop coping strategies, and make progress toward your mental health goals. Through a personalized approach, you build self-awareness and resilience, key factors in mental health recovery.

Group Therapy

Intensive, virtual group sessions connect you to others going through similar challenges. Led by an expert therapist, these meetings offer peer support, shared learning, and a sense of community. Group therapy can reduce feelings of isolation and provide diverse perspectives on managing mental health, aiding in your recovery process.

Family Therapy

Our online family therapy sessions involve your loved ones in the healing process. A therapist guides your family through improving communication, resolving conflicts, and building a supportive home environment. This collaborative approach strengthens family bonds and creates a foundation for lasting mental health improvements.

Virtual family therapy can be particularly beneficial if you live far away from your loved ones or if something else prevents you from seeing them in person.

Medication Management

If medication is part of your treatment plan, our telehealth medication management services ensure you receive proper care. You'll meet with a psychiatrist online to discuss your medication, adjust dosages if needed, and address any concerns. This ongoing oversight helps optimize your medication's effectiveness in supporting your mental health.

Co-occurring Disorder Treatment

For those dealing with both mental health issues and addiction, our telehealth co-occurring disorder treatment offers integrated care. This specialized service addresses both conditions simultaneously, providing a comprehensive approach to recovery. By tackling these interlinked challenges together, we help you build a stronger foundation for overall wellness.

Through these telehealth services, Banyan Mental Health brings expert care directly to you, supporting your journey toward improved mental health and well-being.

Benefits of Telehealth Mental Health Care

A notable benefit of virtual mental health care is that it gives you access to treatment, without requiring you to leave home. For patients with anxiety, depression, or agoraphobia, telehealth provides direct access to services without the challenges associated with going out.

Additional benefits of online mental health services include:

  • Greater Accessibility: Telehealth breaks down geographical barriers, making mental health care available to those in rural areas or with limited local resources. A study published in JAMA Health Forum found that telehealth significantly increased access to mental health services in underserved communities.
  • Enhanced Convenience: You attend telehealth sessions from the comfort of your home, eliminating travel time and costs. Since you don't have to worry about a commute, traffic, or travel expenses, you're much more likely to attend your sessions.
  • Continuity of Care: Life can be unpredictable, but telehealth provides some stability, even when your circumstances change. Whether you're traveling, relocating, or facing mobility issues, you can continue to work with your therapist.
  • Greater Comfort: There's no shame in seeing a therapist. However, you may not want people to know that you are receiving care. Talking to a therapist from a private location, such as your home, can help you feel more at ease with getting the treatment you need.
  • Effectiveness: Multiple studies have shown that telehealth mental health services can be as effective as in-person care for many conditions. One study, published in eClinicalMedicine, found that there was no difference in treatment effectiveness when patients received care online versus face-to-face.
  • Greater Flexibility: Telehealth platforms allow for various therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and more. Since your therapist can adjust the approach to treatment based on your needs, you're more likely to find a method that works for you.
